| Muraling is an exciting and wonderfully collaborative process that requires building upon the talents and vision of other painters. Mural painting also requires working within unpredictable physical parameters, such as thunderstorms, summer heat evaporating paints as quickly as they are mixed, and vandalism. Through these mural projects, I learned the value of flexibility and the power of art as a community-building tool. These murals are the collaborative effort of many artists, led by Oakland muralist Alan Leon. |
