About this work

I see a path as a route etched into a surface that
reinforces itself with every follower and seems to
stretch eternally beyond the horizon. These aspects
of a path–its allure and depth–have always
fascinated me. Of course, I consider the
metaphysical aspects of a path, what it means to
have and follow one, how a path can be enjoyed,
interrupted, embellished, or abandoned, all of
which can occur despite the ambiguity of a
destination. In this way, a path is process.

I attempted to convey these ideas in these large-
scale landscapes. The first paintings are about the
depth, mystery, pleasure, and camaraderie along a
path’s journey.
